Reading applications is one of the core volunteer activities of Esperanza. Volunteers read and score hundreds of applications to whittle them down to the 30 students we interview in person. Each application takes about 15 minutes to complete, and you must commit to scoring 10 applications. Reading only requires a computer, an internet connection, and some of your time and attention. Mentor a Scholar.
Because we know getting through college requires more than money, we match scholars with local mentors who are passionate about supporting students throughout their college education and serving as an additional resource to navigate college and the challenges they will face in their personal and professional development. Find out more on our Mentor FAQ page.
Career Day is one of our signature annual events. Every year, we bring scholars, mentors, and volunteers together to review scholars’ resumes, run mock interviews, and conduct presentations on topics for our aspiring professionals. If you want to participate in the annual event or be available for scholars each year to help out as they apply to internships and jobs, sign up to lend your expertise.
