Our Stories: Sima Zadeh Bedoya, Communications Chair

Sima Zadeh photoSima Zadeh Bedoya, Communications Chair, joined Esperanza in 2014 as a result of her attachment to the issues immigrant families face in education.

Sima is a pediatric psychologist at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health with a focus on pediatric illness. Additionally, Sima serves on the Young Ambassadors Council for The Children’s Inn at the NIH.

Born and raised in New Orleans to parents who both immigrated from Iran, Sima attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for undergrad, with degrees in both Political Science and Psychology, and obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology.

I have so much respect and admiration for each Esperanza scholar – they overcome so much to achieve success.
