Our Stories: Rahat, Scholar (2015)

Rahat is an immigrant from Bangladesh who worked 30 hours a week during high school to save enough money to pay for the first year of college while still maintaining a 4.0 GPA at school. Committed to his Bangladeshi community, he has participated in organizing several events including a 200+ person one-day cricket tournament.  He is studying computer science at George Mason University.

I am truly and sincerely thankful for the Esperanza Education Fund for giving me the opportunity to be the first person in my family to attend college in a first world country. I can honestly say it has allowed to not only make my dreams come true, but my parents’ dreams as well!
