Our Stories: Manuel, Scholar (2021)

Born to Nicaraguan and Guatemalan parents, Manuel was raised in Takoma Park, Maryland. Growing up, Manuel developed a passion for medicine by participating in his high school’s medical careers program, later leading him to seek a Physiology Degree from the University of Maryland.

Manuel hopes to gain further experience by interning at one of the many hospitals and research institutions in the area, and eventually, he hopes to start a non-profit to raise money and provide financial education for homeless shelters. Manuel looks forward to joining as many clubs as possible to gain an interest in fields beyond biology and medicine while he is a student.
