Our Stories: Israel Nery, Treasurer and Volunteer

Israel Nery, Treasurer and Volunteer, is a member of the Development Committee. He became involved with Esperanza in 2017. As a son of immigrants, and growing up in predominately immigrant neighborhoods in Los Angeles, CA, he ‘s been involved in many organizations, campaigns, and other endeavors meant to help the immigrant community.

Israel is currently completing his Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF), a highly selective, prestigious two-year training and development program with the Small Business Administration (SBA), and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) working in the intersection of the law, finance, civil rights, and economics.. Prior to being selected as a PMF, he was a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Fellow  working with the House Financial Services Committee. Israel earned his degrees from California State University – Monterey Bay (CSUMB), Woodbury University, and the University Illinois College of Law. He currently sits in the Board of Directors for his undergrad alma matter, CSUMB.

During his free time, you can find Israel cooking, staying fit, and playing soccer!
