Our Stories: Gisela Ariza: Mentor

Gisela Ariza, Mentor, joined Esperanza in 2017 as a result of her passion for counseling and mentoring young people. Gisela is a Policy Analyst at the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. Additionally, Gisela serves as the Public Relations Officer for the LAYC Associate Board.

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley in California. Her parents both immigrated from Guatemala. Gisela attended California State University of Northridge for undergrad, with a degree in Sociology and obtained her master’s degree in Education, School Counseling from the University of Southern California.

Whenever I am having a difficult day, I think about each Esperanza scholar and their inspiring stories—they are what determination looks like.
