Our Stories: Brenda Perez, Board Member

Brenda joined the Esperanza family when she was awarded The Esperanza Scholarship in 2014, to attend the University of the District of Columbia, to receive a B.S in civil engineering.
She is originally from Mexico, but has been living in D.C for the past 12 years. In high school, Brenda got involved with many organizations, and projects to advocate for a comprehensive immigration reform, including a 4-year long documentary, called RISERS (www.RISERSDC.com). She now works with Many Languages One Voice, as a youth organizer where she empowers youth to become advocates for their community and improve education quality in DC public high schools.
