Our Stories: Amilcar Guzman, Mentor & Volunteer

Amilcar Guzman, Mentor & Volunteer, is a member of the Development and the Scholarship Committees. His involvement with Esperanza started in 2016 when his fiancé, Lissette became the Operations Director for the organization. Amilcar is inspired by the energy of Esperanza’s volunteers and how dedicated and passionate the scholars are in their pursuit of the American Dream.

Amilcar is the Senior Manager for Data and Evaluation at CASA, where he leads the organization’s Evaluation Department. In this role he partners with senior leadership at CASA to establish cross-cutting evaluation priorities and examines the organization’s programs, policies and practices. Prior to joining CASA, Amilcar worked in education policy, research and analysis at numerous Washington, DC based organizations including the Data Quality Campaign, National Council for Community and Education Partnerships and the Council of the Great City Schools. Amilcar began his career through a fellowship from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute where he was placed at the White House Initiative on the Educational Excellence of Hispanic Americans.
