Our Stories: Allison, Scholar (2013)

Allison is a Peruvian immigrant who organized seminars to help low- income Latino students obtain financial aid for higher education and was invited to speak at Senator Mark Warner’s 2013 Roundtable Meeting on Immigration. She will study public relations at the College of William and Mary.

Update: Allison graduated from the College of William & Mary in the spring of 2017. She will be working as a Conflicts Assistant at Latham & Watkins, LLP.

 

 

As someone who did not think she would be able to afford college, receiving the Esperanza scholarship was an absolute blessing for me. Beyond the monetary award, Esperanza provided me with a network of people I could count on to give me guidance in both my academic and professional life. It was with their support that I was able to graduate.
