Alex Lin, Secretary of the Board of Directors, has been part of Esperanza since 2009, and has been an officer and served on the Board of Directors since 2010. Alex joined Esperanza not only because immigration and education are two topics he’s passionate about, but because he loved the opportunity to build an organization from the ground up.
Outside of Esperanza, he is a Project Manager at Turner Consulting Group (TCG), a small technology consulting firm. His mother and father emigrated from Taiwan and Hong Kong, and settled in upstate New York, where Alex was born. Alex graduated from Princeton University with a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, and later obtained an M.A. in English Literature at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He currently resides in the District of Columbia.
Part of what I love about Esperanza is how we manage to serve two communities at once – our primary focus is supporting our scholars’ success in college and afterward, but we also care deeply about leadership and cultivating a certain entrpreneurial spirit with our volunteers, too.
