Esperanza’s Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that, after four years of tremendous growth as an all-volunteer organization, Esperanza has hired its first paid staff member! Alison Collier joined the Esperanza team as our part-time Director of Operations on April 1 and will be managing our internal operations and administration.
As Director of Operations Alison will support the Board in managing everything from bookkeeping to donor correspondence to keeping up with our 40 Esperanza scholars.
Alison brings a wealth of skills and experience in nonprofit management, education, and working with immigrant youth. She currently directs operations and programs at FOCUS, a nonprofit that supports DC public charter schools, and will continue her role at FOCUS as she joins Esperanza on a part-time basis. Prior to joining FOCUS, Alison led the employment, college, and career programs at YouthBuild Public Charter School in DC, where she worked with immigrant and at-risk youth seeking GEDs (including one of our current Esperanza scholars!). Alison is fluent in Spanish and has a B.A. in psychology and Spanish from Tufts University.
We hope you will have a chance to meet Alison at one of our upcoming events or meetings! Be sure to sign up for our email list, join our Facebook Group, and follow us on Twitter to stay updated on this next chapter of Esperanza’s growth and how you can get involved.
